My favorite time of year is finally here – SUMMER! Obviously, this summer is off to quite a different start. We are just coming out of quarantine, and many business are open under social distancing regulations, and several remain closed. So this summer is going to look a little bit different as things are slowly getting back to normal. Traveling is limited, most pools remain closed, and concerts are a definite no-go. BUT that doesn’t mean summer 2020 is going to be a complete bust! Here are some fun activities to fill your summer days:
Send Handmade Cards to Close Friends
When was the last time you sent snail mail?! I forget how fun it is to get something in the mail. Make a cute, personal, handmade card to send to your close friends! It’ll be a fun activity that’ll bring a smile to someone’s face 🙂
Tie Dye a T-shirt, Socks, Tank Top, or Coverup
Tie dye is so on trend right now; I feel like I see it everywhere! Although there are so many CUTE store bought tie dye tees out there right now, it’s so fun to make one yourself. Order a tie dye kit and get creative!
Read a Novel
I recently started the new Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and it’s SO good. I loved the Hunger Games series (I went to the midnight premier for every movie), and this book is bringing back all the feels! Is there a book that’s been on your “to-read” list?!
Start a Blog or Journal
A good friend of mine gave me this 5-year One Question a Day Journal, and I love it. Everyday you answer a short prompt, which you’ll answer again on the same date the next year. It’s such a fun, easy way to journal that isn’t too time consuming, and it’s so entertaining to read your answers from the years before!
Recently, I’ve been spending my time writing new blog posts, which has been really fun. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as am! I’m not trying to make any money or anything like that, but I love having this space to be creative. If you’ve ever thought about starting your own blog, there’s no better time than now! There are plenty of free platforms (like wix, blogger, and wordpress free) to launch a new site,, so give it a go because why not?!
Make a Summer Cocktail
Rent a Boat, Go Stand-Up-Paddleboarding or Kayaking
I think Quarantine has made people enjoy spending time outdoors way more. The parks are so crowded on the weekends! Are there any fun outdoor activities near where you live? Here in Austin, I’ve spent several days out on Lake Travis soaking up the sun and wake surfing (which is by far my favorite summer activity). It’s SO nice to get out and enjoy the outdoors. This summer, I also want to go Stand-Up-Paddle Boarding and visit some natural springs when they open up!
Bake a Summer Pie
Key lime, strawberry, lemon ice box, mixed berry, peach…oooo baby!! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve baked a pie, and it’d be a fun activity to take on one day this summer! I usually think of pies as a fall/winter dessert, but there are so many yummy summer pie recipes out there! Key lime and strawberry will always be my favorites.
Make a Summer Playlist
I don’t know about you, but updating my playlists always seems to be on my list of things to do later. I never think to do it until I just really want to listen to some good music! I finally spent some time a couple weeks ago updating my summer playlist favorite song on it right now is Intentions by the one and only, Justin Bieber (haha!). Revamping your playlists is always a good idea!
Despite unusual circumstances of summer 2020, there are plenty of fun things to do! Comment below what fun activities you have planned for the next couple months!
